The Applied Statistics Division came into being from September 1996, in place of the Applied Statistics, Surveys and Computing Division, following a re-organization of the divisions in the Indian Statistical Institute. The former Computer Science Unit was renamed as the Applied Statistics Unit. For nearly ten years, the Applied Statistics Unit had been the only unit under the Applied Statistics Division.

 

Currently, ASD consists of the following five units. (1) Applied Statistics Unit, Kolkata, (2) Interdisciplinary Statistical Research Unit (ISRU), Kolkata, (3) Applied and Official Statistics Unit (AOSU), NE- Centre-Tezpur, (4) Applied Statistics Unit (ASU), Chennai and (5) Applied Statistics Unit (ASU), Bangalore.


Applied Statistics Division is looking for applications for suitable faculty positions (Asst Prof/Assoc Prof/Prof) from candidates, highly motivated in both research and teaching, in the area of Theoretical,  Applied, Interdisciplinary Statistics, and Security & Cryptology. Candidates must have good academic performance throughout, preferably first class in both graduate and masters level, PhD in relevant subjects from reputed universities/institutes and quality publications in reputed scientific institutions journals.
